I have used the automotive belt dressing but was told for a motocycle the extra pull is too stressful for the aluminum pullys. So, I heard Harley Davidson makes a belt dressing made out of wax and honey. I made my own. Preserves belt, lays down a protective layer of wax and a slight stickiness with minimal build up between the pully teeth.
Recipe: On low heat melt in a sauce pan a bar of parathan wax add a teddy bar size of honey. Once wax is completely melted let it cool and periodically stir; otherwise, when it all cools you will have some wax laying on the bottom of pan which has seperated from the wax while cooling. Once completely cooled brake out of pan in chunks and place in container. To dress belt simply take chunk and rub over belt, both sides. That's it.
Also, lately I have been hearing about bikes hesitating while riding. I was on the highway going around 65mph and my Savage felt like it wanted to die accelerated hard and the bike came back to life finally it died and I coasted to a stop on the side of road. When I finally got the bike home I checked the petcock. In the "on" position no fuel flow. Turned valve a little counter clockwise and fuel. I notice when bike is idleing and I turn valve closer to the "on" position idle becomes rough. Starving carb. Since I made this adjusment no problems. Eventually will replace petcock. Tore petcock apart checked filter and still have same problem. Replacement a must. FYI.
